Individualized options

Your evaluation may include a discussion of different treatment modalities

Depending on the clinical situation, a provider may discuss FDA-approved formulations and, in selected circumstances, compounded preparations. Pellets are one possible delivery method, but they are not the only option and are not automatically recommended.

Review of hormonal and nonhormonal alternatives

Clear explanation of risks, limitations, and follow-up

A plan based on medical evaluation and informed consent

Important information: compounded hormone preparations, including pellets, are not individually approved by the FDA. “Bioidentical” does not automatically mean safer or more effective. Treatment suitability is determined individually.

Frequently asked questions

Information for a responsible decision

Does the consultation guarantee that I will receive pellet therapy?

No. The consultation is a medical evaluation. Eligibility, formulation, dose, and route of administration are determined through medical history, examination, laboratory review, and an individualized discussion of benefits, risks, and alternatives.

What does it mean when a hormone is bioidentical?

The term describes hormones with a chemical structure identical or similar to hormones produced by the body. There are FDA-approved bioidentical formulations and compounded preparations. “Bioidentical” does not automatically mean safer or more effective.

Are compounded hormone pellets FDA-approved?

Hormone pellets prepared by compounding pharmacies are not individually approved by the FDA. If this modality is considered, the clinical team will explain its characteristics, limitations, possible risks, and available alternatives.

What may be included in the initial evaluation?

The visit may include a review of medical history, medications, health goals, relevant concerns, and laboratory tests selected by the provider. Not every person needs the same testing.

Is hormone therapy appropriate for everyone?

No. Certain medical histories may alter the balance of benefits and risks or make a nonhormonal alternative preferable. A licensed provider must evaluate each case before recommending treatment.
